We’re Back!

You may have noticed that we’ve had a technical problem with our website and it’s been a bit quiet around here. The good news is that we’re back and ready to keep you updated!

But what have you missed over the last year?

In February our Mental Health Football and Walking Initiatives were awarded funding from the National Lottery, full story here.

Also In February our congratulations went out to our Women’s First Team Assistant Manager, Katie Halligan who completed her UEFA B course. We’re really proud to have Katie onboard!

In December 21 we made our annual Christmas visit to Oldham Hospital to drop off selection boxes and toys for the children’s ward, it’s one of our favourite things that we do as a club.

In October 21 we had an amazing time at our ‘An Evening with Frank Bruno’ fundraiser. It was the biggest event we’ve ever organised with over 400 attendees, it raised some much needed funds for the Club and our mental health initiatives. We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended, especially Frank, our MC Ian Cheeseman and our brilliant comedian Josh Daniels.

In August 21 our Mental Health Football initiative won the Manchester FA ‘Grassroots Project of The Year’ Award. Our Women’s team player and Wildcats volunteer Holly Grimes also won the Manchester FA ‘Rising Star of The Year’ Award.

In July 21 we formed a new men’s Saturday team, taking us to 4 Saturday teams.

In June 21 we took a team to the Atherton Charity Shield. We got knocked out on penalties in the Semi-Final, but we had a great time supporting and donating to two great causes. Another highlight was playing against a team featuring the Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham (pictured).

Check out this article in the Manc for more details on the Atherton Charity Shield.

In June 21 we expanded our offering by starting up a second Women’s Team.

In April 21 we visited Oldham Hospital again this time with Easter eggs and toys for the children’s ward.

In March 2021 our players and volunteers were busy pounding the streets through lockdown for our #MoveItMarch 2021km Challenge! We were delighted to raise a total of £1,381 for our 4th team’s chosen charity, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.

Now we’ve caught up a little, keep a lookout for more news posts coming soon. Thanks for reading!
