AFCO Become Official HerGameToo Partners

AFC Oldham are proud to announce our official partnership and support in eradicating sexist abuse within the football community and beyond.

HerGameToo, a non-profit organisation, was founded by 12 female football fans committed to raising awareness of, and helping to fight, sexism in football.

As a football club, we pride ourselves on being an open and inclusive football club that puts our community at the heart of its operations. Our ambition for equality across our football club has been further supported by our drive to have increased female representation at committee level.

HerGameToo aims to create awareness, educate, research, develop a strong sense of community and create strong relationships with clubs, among much more. All of which align with our vision and mission as a football club and community.

Local Ambassador for HerGameToo, Alison Schofield commented: “I am delighted with this partnership. AFC Oldham is already doing incredible work in ensuring they are a welcoming club for everyone and that their Match-day experience is one that can be enjoyed by all. They have many women’s teams and are always encouraging more women and girls to get involved. We look forward to working together to ensure their excellent efforts to be inclusive for all can continue.”

AFC Oldham Chairman, Dale Harris added: “It is a really important day for our club as we welcome HerGameToo to the AFC Oldham family of partners. Their work across the football community and beyond is vital to creating an inclusive sport where everyone feels welcome.

It is important to me, the committee and the wider club that every individual feels safe and welcome at our football club, free from judgement, pressure and it goes without saying abuse. We will be working with HerGameToo to become beacons within our local community, championing their work in fighting sexism and sexist abuse in the game. This has already started with all our Women’s teams wearing the HGT logo on their shirts this season.”
