Newton Joins AFC Oldham Committee

AFC Oldham can announce a new signing to the committee with Kris Newton joining as Club Welfare Officer.

Kris is the latest new volunteer recruit to join the restructured committee, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in safeguarding and welfare of both adults and children. Formerly a serving paramedic for the North West Ambulance Service, Kris is currently the Head of Digital Service Delivery at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, a serving Governor at St Herbert’s RC Primary School and a Non-Executive Director for a Multi Academy Trust in South Manchester.

Kris reflected on joining the committee and said:Since my son joined the Club’s Under 9s team back in September 2021, I instantly became interested in getting involved with the club and give something back to the local community in the process.

I am honoured to be appointed the clubs Welfare and Safeguarding Officer. More so to be joining such a committed group of individuals that make up the committee, all of whom are so passionate about the future of AFC Oldham. I am very keen to see our youth teams grow and expand the offer we currently have, whilst ensuring we continue with the high standards we set out. It is my priority to deliver a safe and inclusive environment for all at the club.

With over 23 years of working within the public sector along with 9 years with the North West Ambulance Service, I feel that my skills and abilities can be in valuable to helping drive the club forward and supporting my fellow committee members.”

Chairman, Dale Harris added: “It is fantastic to have Kris on board. His knowledge, experience and passion is already being evidenced and he is the type of person our club needs. I am excited to work alongside Kris, utilising his skills to ensure everyone at the club is supported from a safeguarding and welfare perspective.

It is vitally important that we demonstrate best practice when it comes to safeguarding. I am confident that with Kris on board we can kick on and build on the foundations already in place from our previous welfare officer, Leanne.”

We are currently advertising for a new Club Secretary to join the AFC Oldham Committee. If you would like to join a forward thinking grassroots football club with the community at the heart of what it does then please get in touch.
