MID Communications announced as long-term Club Partner
AFC Oldham is delighted to announce a multi-year deal with local business MID Communications.
The partnership agreement is the largest for some time at the club and will see the telecommunications company become the front of shirt sponsor of our Women’s First Team for the next two seasons. In addition, each player at the club will be provided with a tracksuit top sponsored by the Middleton based company.
MID Communications is an independent franchise of Virgin Media O2. They are a fun, energetic and professional company, operating locally within several communities across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire and the Fylde coast. In total, they operate thirteen O2 retail stores along with their head office and business centre, based in Rochdale, servicing over 7,500 SME’s.
Danny Simpson, CEO of MID Communications said: “We are really excited to be partnering with AFC Oldham with this long-term deal. It is our pleasure to be able to support the women’s first team as well as the wider club. As a business, we love to champion and support local causes doing amazing things and AFC Oldham is a great club going from strength to strength.
It is fantastic to see Dale Harris on board as the new Chairman and from my experience working with Dale I am confident he will take the club to new levels. We’re really looking forward to being part of the journey and seeing how the club develops further, especially the women’s teams. I am sure they will take great inspiration from the recent success of the Lionesses and personally I believe there is no better time to support the women’s game. Our role will be more than a sponsor, we aim to play a key part in supporting AFC Oldham, Dale and the wider committee to build awareness and opportunities for women and girls to play football locally.
We are very much grateful for the opportunity to partner with AFC Oldham and would like to place on record our thanks to Dale for approaching us and all at AFC Oldham for allowing us this opportunity.”
AFC Oldham Chairman, Dale Harris added: “I have worked with Danny and the team at MID Communications for over six years now. I have got to know their ethos, mission and values and couldn’t think of a better organisation to be working alongside at AFC Oldham. I am delighted that Danny can see our ambition and goals and has bought into the vision we have as a club.
This deal not only benefits the women’s first team but the wider club itself. Danny and his team have also chosen to donate a sponsored space on the junior teams logos to local charity Cash For Kids, raising awareness for the great work they do across Greater Manchester.
We are proud of our Women’s teams and believe we have the right foundations in place at adult level to challenge at the top end of the league table. In addition, we have some key figureheads within the teams passionate about growing the game for younger teams. First Team Captain, Lauren Steel-Smith recently joined the committee as a player liaison officer and I am excited to be working alongside her with her innovative ideas to help grow the women’s game at our club. This partnership will certainly provide a solid platform to build off.”
The club would like to thank Development Officer, Andy Rowlandson who has liaised with Danny and his team to make the deal happen. Volunteers and committee members like Andy work hard in the background to keep the club running.
The new AFC Oldham home and away shirts will be available to order in junior and adult sizes very soon.
