MHF wins Mental Health Matters Trophy!

Mental Health Matters!

Our initiative, Mental Health Football recently entered, and won a tournament aiming to raise awareness of mental health.

The 6-a-side tournament set up by Place 2 Place FC in Wigan is a yearly event that brings together similar mental health support groups, teams and initiatives from across Britain.

MHF’s team of attendees won their group and their semi-final before drawing the final and winning a penalty shoot out.

AFC Oldham Chairman and MHF Co-Founder, Ross Elliott said: “Thank you to Place 2 Place for organising another brilliant tournament, we met some amazing people and fantastic organisations, and we were lucky enough to be this year’s winners of the Place2Place Mental Health Matters Trophy.
Our players were a credit to our initiative, supporting all the other teams and players.

MHF isn’t about winning at all costs, it’s about giving our attendees the opportunity to improve their physical and mental health with a kickabout and a chat in a safe, inclusive and non-judgemental environment. It’s nice to enter the odd tournament or host the odd friendly to give people a chance to experience something they might not imagined possible.”

Well done to everyone involved!
