Harrington Appointed First Team Manager

AFC Oldham are delighted to announce the appointment of Aaron Harrington as Men’s First Team Manager.

The 25-Year-Old joins after returning back to Manchester following a spell at Northern Ireland semi-professional outfit Coleraine FC. Prior to that Harrington has enjoyed time as an academy coach at Millwall FC, as well as a successful period as Head Coach at Tem Em Bee Football Club in London.

Whilst only in the early stages in his managerial journey, Harrington’s footballing CV is impressive having completed his UEFA B qualification. He is currently awaiting his final assessment on his UEFA A License having took part in the course whilst in Northern Ireland.

Following his appointment, Aaron commented: “Firstly I would like to thank the committee for giving me this wonderful opportunity to become First Team manager. AFC Oldham have demonstrated their core values they hold throughout the recruitment process. There is a strong sense of community and a dedicated group of volunteers that extrude their passion into the club which is something I strongly believe in.”

“After an initial conversation with Chairman Dale, his ideals, ambition, energy and passion match well with mine as a manager. I believe the general direction AFC Oldham are heading in, makes this a very attractive project to be involved with.”

“I am fully looking forward to working with the squad and continuing to build from the foundations laid by the previous managers Ross and Andy. It is my job now to work with each and every player to ensure we are striving towards our ambitions and common goal of putting AFC Oldham on the map as a serious commodity in the North West football landscape.”

AFC Oldham Chairman, Dale Harris said: “I am really pleased to welcome Aaron to the club. His passion and ambition has been clear from the outset. There’s no denying he is a young manager looking to cut his teeth in the men’s game,  but his credentials and the way he has come into the club and addressed the players and committee speaks volumes.

“He demands high standards, professionalism and commitment which is exactly what we need should we stand any chance of achieving our goals. We are both fully aware of the size of the job in front of us and make no mistake there is some serious work to be done. However, with Aaron on board I am confident we have the right leader to steer us to success both on and off the field.”

“It isn’t ideal bringing in a new manager so late into pre-season, it has been a long and thorough recruitment process. We knew the importance of the appointment and wanted to make sure it was right for our club. I would like to put my thanks on record to Ross Elliott, Andy Steel and Club President Pete Bird for the time and effort put in, ensuring we recruit the right person for the job.”

“Exciting times ahead for the club and the hard work is only just getting started.”
