That’s right, we’ll be making an announcement soon about our next ‘An Evening with …’ and we couldn’t be more excited.
For those new to us, we’ve become well known over the years for our annual dinners. It’s one of the highlights of our calendar and we’ve attracted some big names as Special Guest Speakers over the years; Jimmy Bullard, Lee Sharpe, Ian Holloway, Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, Ray Parlour, that’s just to mention a few!
Our events raise much needed funds for the Club, the community work we do and our two mental health initiatives. We really appreciate the support we get from everyone who attends our dinners and we hope we repay them every time with a great meal, a brilliant comedian and a fantastic guest speaker.
Our volunteers work extremely hard behind the scenes to try and plan the perfect event and make sure everything goes smoothly on the night.
Our last event, in October 2021 was ‘An Evening with Frank Bruno’ and over 400 guests turned out to hear stories about Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and even The Queen from the British boxing legend. Frank was very supportive of our mental health initiatives and spoke openly about his own issues.
Frank was a true gentleman, signing hundreds of autographs and posing for photos with over 200 of the crowd. It’s not every day you get to meet a former Heavyweight Champion of the World in Oldham!
