Third Team Finish Season

AFC Oldham Third Team brought their season to a close with a 4-1 away win at Flixton Juniors on Saturday.

With only 9 players available from the squad, and without use of the regular ‘keeper, it looked like it was going to be a tough day for the Division B side. Fortunately, 3 players from our other teams were ready to help out, with 2 outfielders volunteering to share goalkeeping duties. The lads pulled together to earn a brilliant win.

Manager Alan Flint said “It was one of our best performances of the season, especially considering the circumstances. We’ve used more than 45 players over the course of the campaign, which says a lot to how we’ve played week in, week out. But we managed to get through the season in the end.”

A couple of fixtures have still to be played out in Division B, but despite Alan’s obvious disappointment, his team sit 3rd place in the table, and the lowest they can finish would be 4th.

Well done to Alan and the players for their hard work and effort over the course of the season.
