Late Call Offs, First Team Beaten-Saturday 10th February Round Up

Bad weather and a defeat cause a poor weekend for AFC Oldham, with the First Team unable to overcome their in-form hosts.

First Team toppled by league leaders

Chorltonians Reserves 3-1 AFC Oldham

Division Two

Chorlton High School

The final score does not tell the whole story for AFC Oldham as they matched and, in parts bested the home side, but the confidence of the table toppers showed as they grabbed three goals to claim the points.

With key players missing manager Ross Elliott called upon Second and Third Team players after their late cancellation, taking a full squad of 16 to Chorlton.

The 90 minutes summed up the season for the First Team, matching their opponents comfortably but missing the mark in both boxes.

Ben Cullen’s strike did restore some hope at 3-0 down late in the second half, chance after chance fell the visitor’s way but they lacked a real poacher to make it count.

With the season’s close approaching quickly this was another case of what if for AFC Oldham, but with three games left there is still plenty of opportunity to finish the season strong.
