AFC Oldham start their season tomorrow, when they travel to Drinkwater Park to face Bury Amateur AFC.
After a disappointing season last term, Ross Elliott’s men will be looking to start strong against a side who began their own campaign last week, grabbing a 4-2 win over Didsbury FC.
A total restructure of the league has seen Oldham promoted to Division One, giving AFC a golden opportunity to claim a spot in the Premier Division.
Ambitions are high at the club at the moment, when the Official AFC Oldham website caught up with Elliott ahead of the game his game he spoke about the general feel and atmosphere of the club:
“I’ve been really impressed with the commitment, drive and focus from all of the club’s players and coaches this pre-season, their attitude has been amazing.
From top to bottom the whole club seems to have a good togetherness at the moment, the future is looking bright.”
Elliott was just as confident about his side too adding:
“I’m exicted about the season opener against Bury Amateurs, as a first team we have strengthened with a few quality signings, development of the talent we already have and increased intensity at training.
This has shown in recent friendlies with us winning three out of the four games. I’m hoping that the confidence built from these results, combined with the hard work we’ve put in will see us get off to a good start to our campaign it should be a great game.”
A new season, in a new league, the frustration of last year feels like a distant memory.
The game will be held at Drinkwater Park, and is free to attend.
