One win and one defeat from today’s games, sees the First Team respond to their shock hammering last week and the Thirds cup run come to an end.

AFC Oldham 3-1 Bury Amateur

Division A

There was no denying who deserved the three points as the home side went into the break two goals to the good, looking strong.

A scrappy goal from the visitors left Oldham nervous as Bury drove forward looking for the equaliser, but a quick counter attack saw Edivaldo Santos stroke the ball home to confirm the victory and win the three points for AFC.

Gabriel Wiwolokw and Dan Jackson were the scorers as grabbed their fourth win of the league campaign, avenging their opening day defeat to the same opposition.

The three points see Oldham move above Bury and up to seventh place, while closing the gap to nine points from Dom Doyle who sit top of the table with two games in hand.

A spirited performance from the Third Team as they took on Division A side Duckinfield, it took a penalty to separate the two sides.

Jake Milburn’s strike looked to bring Jimmy Smith’s men back into the game, but the home side’s second was enough to see them advance onto the next round.

It leaves the Third Team concentrating on the league, they currently sit 13 points behind the league leaders with two games in hand.

They will be hoping to turn their recent run of form around next week when they face Didsbury FC Seconds, who sit bottom of Division B.
